Begüm Gürses-Sulzer

I am an Istanbul-born, Zurich-trained (ISAPZURICH) Jungian Analyst and a member of IAAP (International Association for Analytical Psychology) and AGAP (Association of Graduates in Analytical Psychology Zurich). I work both in-person (in Zurich and Biel/Bienne) and online, in English, French and Turkish.
My path into Jungian analysis began on “the other chair”—through my own analytic journey. Before training as an analyst, I studied Economics (Istanbul and Upstate New York) and Actuarial Science (Lausanne), and worked in finance at a Swiss bank.
Alongside that, I have a background in education and social work, having supported children with special needs and worked as a case manager and local lead for a nonprofit. These experiences sparked my interest in the dynamics of helping and caregiving, which became the focus of my thesis. I also offer courses and lead group work on this theme.
In my practice, I work with clients from around the world, with particular focus on those in the helping professions and individuals navigating caregiving, addiction, burnout, depression, and chronic illnesses such as pain and autoimmune conditions. My approach draws on dreams and symbolic work—through drawings, images, myths, fairy tales, and the I Ching. I find this process deeply transformative, as it invites all aspects of a person into the healing journey: inner and outer experiences, daydreams and night dreams, the past and the present, and psychological and physical symptoms alike.
