Nancy van den Berg Cook

I am an Internationally Certified Jungian Analyst (IAAP) and Doctor of Psychology with 28 years experience in my full time private practice in the Netherlands. In my first career, I was a bio-medical research scientist, with a PhD from University of California, Berkeley. My 2 professional societies are: AGAP (Association for Graduate Analytical Psychologists) in Zurich and the IRSJA (Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts) in the USA. I'm a participant (faculty) at the Jungian Analyst Training Institute ISAPZurich, and I taught in the Clinical Psychology doctorate program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. I also present a large range of very positively reviewed educational programs -- webinars and workshops -- for psychologists as well as the general public.

I have a very broad and practical understanding of Jung's psychology and in my work with clients in analysis as well as in my workshops and webinars and courses at training institutes, I always translate Jung's complex and brilliant theories into real-life psychology.

What do dreams actually tell us about our daily life problems? How can we learn to understand and work with our old wounds and complexes -- just in the way they actually present themselves in our daily lives? Like Jung, I believe, and know from many years of experience, that our human psyche is an organic, living entity. Just like the organs and cells in our body, it works very hard to try to regulate itself (so we can suffer less) and especially to heal itself. Both my patients and myself can count on that life-giving and healing function of the psyche, to lead us through deep and difficult journeys on the way to becoming wiser and happier and more settled in the world and within ourselves.

Probably my 2 strongest and most clinically valuable abilities are (1) to help people understand and translate the powerfully helpful messages in their dreams, and (2) through education and my support of intensive self reflection, I help people to better understand themselves ("...why oh why did I do that and why oh why can I not stop doing that...!?) and in the process, become more forgiving towards themselves and more stable in their sense of "I really am OK..." And along the way, people always also find profound inspiration and excitement for life.
